EDUCATION
John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Melbourne University in 1986 and received his Master of Arts degree at The La Trobe University in 1998.
EXPERIENCE
John has been in the home improvement and renovation space since 2000, when he remodelled his 1913 farmhouse-style home outside Washington, DC. After Washington, DC, John's work and writing took a dramatic shift in Seattle toward lower-cost, economical, homeowner-driven home remodelling.
John attributes his DIY prowess to growing up on a family farm in an environment where fixing, maintaining, and building things yourself was commonplace. Over nearly 15 years, John has learned various woodworking practices and techniques.
